Mazda North American Operations (MNAO) announced record Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) vehicle sales of 37,886 vehicles in 2013, an increase of 39.1 percent.

Mazda’s year-over-year sales increase more than doubled the industry’s average of 15.1 percent and represented a 0.3 percent increase in share to 1.8 percent for 2013.

Mazda also achieved a 14-percent increase in CPO vehicle sales for the month of December with 3,167 vehicles sold, which gave the manufacturer a 1.8 percent market share for the month.

This is Mazda’s fourth consecutive year of record growth, accounting for a total increase of 260 percent in CPO sales since 2010. Mazda’s sales growth has continually outpaced the industry, resulting in a 1.2 percent increase in share since 2010.

“In the last four years, Mazda’s CPO program has seen outstanding growth and continuous improvement,” said Ron Stettner, vice president of sales, MNAO. “We want to provide confidence to our CPO customers and in doing so we have added things like three-year AutoCheck Buyback Protection and extended the limited warranty on newly purchased Mazda CPO vehicles.”

In September 2013, Mazda bolstered its already successful CPO program. Customers who purchased a Mazda Certified Pre-Owned vehicle after Sept. 4, 2013 received an additional 12-month/12,000-mile limited warranty. At that same time, Mazda also increased the eligibility of potential CPO vehicles by extending the model years for eligible vehicles by a year, to include six from the current model year, and extended the eligible mileage by 20,000 miles, to a maximum of 80,000 miles.
