KAR Auction Services has acquired STRATIM, a mobility and fleet management software company.

The acquisition, the company stated in an announcement, will expand KAR’s presence in the on-demand, urban commute provider and autonomous vehicle markets. The acquisition will also supplement KAR’s portfolio of wholesale used vehicle physical, online, and digital auction marketplaces and ancillary service providers.

STRATIM is a San Francisco-based company founded in 2016 by a team of former Google, eBay, and Trulia employees. The STRATIM software uses real-time data and predictive analytics to digitize fleet management and help mobility service providers streamline operations, according to the company. Additionally, fleets are given the ability to onboard, manage, service, dispatch, and pay vendors straight through STRATIM’s automated vendor management platform.

STRATIM will continue to operate out of its San Francisco headquarters. Sean Behr, previously CEO of STRATIM, will assume the role of president.
