Ward.

Kathy Ward, past president and CEO of Canadian Black Book, passed away on Dec. 24 after multiple years of fighting cancer. She was 60.

Ward had retired from Canadian Black Book in September 2016, however, this was after a 36-year tenure at Canadian Black Book, 10 of which were as president and CEO.

She took over the helm of president and CEO in 2006, after her father, the company’s founder, stepped down from the position.

During Ward’s tenure, Canadian Black Book shifted from being primarily a publishing house to a provider of data electronically. In 2010, she oversaw the launch of Canadian Black Book’s website, where the company’s residual value data was shared with consumers.

In 2015, one year before retiring, she negotiated the sale of Canadian Black Book to Hearst Business Media. One of the accomplishments that Ward was most proud of was the fact that she prospered as a female in the automotive industry.

Ward was born on Nov. 16, 1957.
