Louisiana's First Choice Auto Auction announced plans to implement a line of safety bollards and install new computer screens to scan vehicle identification numbers to reduce risk of injury.

The bollards will be placed on both sides of all six bidding lanes of the auction. The purpose of these will be to keep the vehicles in the lane in the event of an accident.

In addition to the bollards, a dedicated VIN-scanning monitor will be placed in each bidding lane. The screen will display a barcode containing the vehicle VIN which can be scanned by any smart phone app that assists in vehicle purchasing.

“The purpose of installing the monitors is to keep dealers from scanning the vehicles as they move through the lanes," said Matt Alombro, operations manager. "This will allow us to run cars through our lanes at a more efficient pace and make the bidding atmosphere safer.”
