Gary Smith, owner of Dealers Auto Auction of Oklahoma City (DAA/OKC), has announced the appointment of Jon Reininger to the post of general manager. Reininger has worked for DAA/OKC since 2000, most recently serving as Assistant General Manager since March of 2007.

“We know our customers and employees alike applaud Jon’s promotion to General Manager,” Smith said. “We have all come to rely on him for his understanding of the auction business, his focus on customer service, and his attentiveness to many details involved in processing vehicles through an auction sale. Jon has proved himself to be a vital member of the auction team here at DAA/OKC since coming to work here nearly 15 years ago, and we know he will continue to serve our business well in his new post.”

Reininger spent the first part of his career in corporate finance, having received a degree in accounting from the University of Central Oklahoma and working as a cost accountant with Dana Corporation for five years. He spent the next six years as a controller for a novelty gift company before signing on with  DAA/OKC in March of 2000 as the Assistant Controller, moving shortly thereafter to Controller.

“Working in the auction industry is a dream come true for me,” said Reininger, who developed a love for automobiles as a child when he helped his father restore a number of vehicles, among them a ’66 Mustang, a ’69 Triumph Spitfire, and a ’79 MGB.  “I love the work I do here at DAA/OKC and feel tremendously fortunate to associate with a great group of people here at the auction. Following Gary Smith’s lead, the entire staff works hard to serve our customers well, and we’ll continue to focus on providing a level of service that’s second to none here in our area.”

Dealers Auto Auction of Oklahoma City was founded by Gary Smith in 1988. DAA/OKC holds a General Motors Factory-sponsored Auction every other Tuesday at 10 am.  The facility also offers the largest weekly vehicle consignment in the state, and the highest sales percentage of any independent auction in the region.  A prestigious consignor lineup is led by Ally Auto Remarketing, RSA, Hertz and Avis/Budget Group. Located on 125 acres, the auction includes 11 auction lanes, a full service restaurant, and over 130,000 square feet of recon, mechanical and body/paint shop facilities.
